
This was during the first staff coordination meeting for 2024 that held the conference room of COMINSUD’s office on Saturday 6th January 9, 2024.
While welcoming staff the Coordinator Fon Nsoh encouraged staff to be resilient in spite of the current Cameroon Anglophone crisis that was especially affecting its main project area; that is the North West Region.
Fon Nsoh also stressed on the need for accountability and team work that would set an enabling environment for the buoyancy of the organization. To this effect he encouraged staff to; trust in their abilities, seek better ways of enhancing their work, push beyond expectations and be honest with self.
With general focus in the areas of Development, Provision of Humanitarian Assistance Peace Work and Health, 2024 programmes, projects and the financial overview were discussed as follows;
- Social Aid and Support Project (SASU
The project seeks to improving the psychological and socio-economic living situation of young women and youths in eight crisis-affected communities of the North West Region. It is sponsored by Bread for the World (BROT), Germany
- Civil Peace Service (CPS)
Still sponsored Bread for the World (BROT), Germany the CPS Project seek to engage young people to change their perceptions and stimulate positive values of inclusion, tolerance, non-violence, justice and peace. It is an all-inclusive activity that will involve Municipal and Regional authorities, traditional leaders, religious bodies, civil society groups and associations.
The goal of the project is to reduce hunger and malnutrition through General Food Assistance and Supplementary Feeding to vulnerable Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities affected by the crisis in the North-West region of Cameroon.
The objective will be to Provide Integrated food and Nutritional assistance to crisis affected populations (men, women PLWG, PWD) in Momo and Boyo Divisions of NWR, as a means of support to their self-reliance and recovery.
- World Food Programme (WFP) – Supplementary Preventive Feedimg
This WFP sponsored project seeks to reduce hunger and malnutrition through General Food Assistance and top up Supplementary Preventive Feeding to vulnerable Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities affected by the crisis in the North-West region of Cameroon.
The general objective is to contribute to reduce all forms of malnutrition in nutritionally vulnerable groups including children aged 6-23 months, Pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers – with special attention to pregnant adolescent girls and other nutritionally at-risk mothers such as women living with HIV and under ART treatment in food insecure households affected by the NW crisis in vulnerable communities of the NW region accompanied by nutrition sensitive programming and social behavioral change communication.
- Community Dispensation of Anti-Retrovirals(ARV)
Sponsored by the Global Fund via North West Regional Technical Group (RTG), the goal is to bring ARV treatment closer to the community, so as to achieve the 95 95 95 goal and to have HIV free nation by 2030
- Community Led Monitoring Sponsor (CLM):
The project also aims at improving access to HIV/AIDS services offered free of charge at health facilities through improved community participatory monitoring systems. It is sponsored by USAID through ReCAP+
In the wake of a year marked by notable successes and meaningful challenges, the staff recognized the Board of Director’s spirited acknowledgment of the team’s collective achievements form the previous year. From surpassing ambitious targets to fostering a cohesive and supportive work environment, the team took stock of the invaluable lessons gained from the ups and downs of the previous year.
