COMINSUD kick starts SASU phase II project, empowering Community Support

Community Initiative For Sustainable Development (COMINSUD), in alliance with ZAATI Consulting, recently held  a workshop to facilitate the effective implementation of the Social Aid and Support Project (SASU) Phase II, sponsored by Bread for the World Germany. Held from June 18 to 20, 2025, in Bamenda, the workshop aimed to acquire crucial updates on the 2025 Counselling and Support Services from Bread for the World (BftW), focusing on planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning requirements. Participants, including the project Coordinator, focal persons, and SASU staff, and reviewing project planning and implementation tools. This collaborative effort is essential for laying a solid foundation for the project, which aims to enhance the psychosocial and socio-economic conditions of vulnerable individuals across eight local councils (Bamenda II&III, Batibo, Widikum, Mbengwi, Njinikom, Belo, and Ndop) in the North West Region of Cameroon.

The SASU project is designed to provide psychosocial support and economic empowerment, targeting socially excluded groups, particularly young and middle-aged persons. By promoting resilience and self-assertiveness, the project aspires to double the impact achieved in its first phase. The involvement of various stakeholders, including regional and division delegates for Social Affairs, Women Empowerment, and Health, underscores the project’s comprehensive approach to community support. This workshop not only clarified the desired changes and outcomes but also strengthened the partnerships necessary for successful implementation.

A cornerstone of COMINSUD’s success has been its long-standing relationship with Bread for the World, which has provided vital support since 2008. This enduring partnership reflects a mutual commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations and achieving shared objectives. Bread for the World’s continuous sponsorship has enabled COMINSUD to expand its initiatives, including the ongoing Civil Peace Service (CPS) in ten councils of the North West Region. Together, they have demonstrated a steadfast dedication to community service, ensuring that the needs of vulnerable persons are met while fulfilling the goals of funders. As the SASU Phase II project progresses, the collaborative efforts of COMINSUD and Bread for the World are sure to create lasting, positive impacts in the region.
