In a strong display of commitment to peace and social cohesion, the Community Initiative for Sustainable Development (COMINSUD) actively participated in launching the 13th edition of the Mankon Unity Cup.

Speaking at the ceremony, Fon Angwafo IV of Mankon lamented: “It is disheartening that so many crimes are committed in Mankon at this time. The Nkwifon (Traditional Secret Society) is sending a clear message that Mankon is a peace-loving people and we want peace. Without peace, we cannot carry out our responsibilities for the development and education of our people.”

As support to the peace call of the Crown, COMINSUD joined the Peace Caravan from Council Junction to the Fon’s Palace, displaying peace messages. The Community Peace Service Team also organized a peace outreach, engaging over 1,500 people through talks on the core values of peace; Positivity, Inclusion, Equality, Tolerance, and Non-violence and distributing peace materials.

The organisers warmly acknowledged COMINSUD’s presence, while community leaders pledged continued collaboration to foster peace in Mankon, Bamenda II, and the wider North West Region.

With support from Bread for the World, COMINSUD has been instrumental in peace restoration efforts across the North West Region. Working with 11 councils, the organisation promotes peace values and social cohesion, recording inspiring testimonies and success stories in various communities.
