The finals of the Mankon Unity Cup were not only a celebration of sportsmanship but also a platform to showcase peacebuilding and community resilience. During the pre-match formalities, organizers called for a round of applause in recognition of COMINSUD’s significant contributions to the restoration of peace across Mankon through the CPS Peace Project, sponsored by Bread for the World.

In a symbolic gesture, COMINSUD crowned the event with the maiden edition of the Togetherness, Peace and Development Awards, honoring communities that have put into practice lessons gained from trainings, workshops, and peace outreaches.

Four major awards were presented as encouragement to communities and individuals going the extra mile to foster a just and peaceful society:
First Prize: All the quarters that make up Mile 7 Mankon (Alamatu, Alasumtom, Alafrumbi) emerged winners and received a cash prize of 250,000 FCFA.
Second Prize: Ngomgham II, Ntankah, and Ndimabeh jointly took second place, each receiving 150,000 FCFA.

Special Recognition Awards: The Fon of Mankon, His Majesty Fon Angwafo IV and the Organizing Committee of the Mankon Unity Cup were honored for their outstanding roles in peacebuilding.
Significantly, the winning quarters of this year’s Togetherness, Peace and Development Awards were areas once considered “no-go zones” just a few years ago. Today, they stand as symbols of transformation, thanks to the joint efforts of COMINSUD, community leaders, local stakeholders, and the resilience of community members themselves.
The CPS project team, led by the COMINSUD Board Chair, Ma Chambi Julie, also organized a sensitization outreach during the event, reaching more than 3,000 people with messages of peace, togetherness, and development.
