In commemoration of World Water Day 2026, COMINSUD intensified awareness on water-related challenges with a strong emphasis on gender inclusion in schools across Bamenda. In collaboration with SIRDEP, sensitization campaigns were conducted in GBHS Down Town (Bamenda II), Saint Frederick Comprehensive High School (Big Mankon), and Baptist Secondary School (Bamenda III). These sessions educated students on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), while underscoring the importance of gender-responsive water management. A quiz competition followed each session, enabling students to demonstrate their knowledge, with top performers selected as WASH Champions and invited to participate in the main regional event.

COMINSUD also actively contributed to the official World Water Day celebration organized by the Norwegian Refugee Council under the theme “Water and Gender.” Through a dedicated presentation, COMINSUD emphasized inclusive water governance and the critical role of women in water resource management, calling for equitable participation of both men and women in decision-making processes. The event proved to be a resounding success, fostering youth engagement, innovation, and collaboration among stakeholders. Overall, the activities highlighted the strong connection between water and gender while promoting community-driven solutions to address water challenges in the North West Region.
