As a direct response aimed at improving food security in the crisis-hit North West Region of Cameroon, COMINSUD a partner of the World Food Program is currently carrying out a general food assistance Boyo, Mezam and Momo Divisions in the North West Region of Cameroon.

Close to 45,000 beneficiaries in close to 10,00 households are expected to be beneficiaries. 355.587 MT of food commodities comprising rice, beans, Vegetable oil and 49.638 MT of super cereal a nutritious food that prevents malnutrition in children and pregnant and lactating women and girls are available for the beneficiaries. Had hit areas communities like Guzang, Oshum, Widikum, Bifang, Gungong, Wosing, Nnen, Won are part of 30 sites benefiting from this phase of distribution.

The crisis in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon that began in 2017, has adversely affected food security within households and especially those forced into vulnerability by the crisis.

It is worth noting that at the end of February 2024 there were new displacements from Upper Bayang in the South West Region into Widikum in the North West Region following some violent attacks on the civilian population. WFP Bamenda field office and its partner COMINSUD assisted the displaced households with 30.726 MTs of food commodities comprising Rice and vegetable oil that was distributed to 1240 displaced persons in 401 households and 1.274MT of super cereal was served to 140 children 6 to 59 months and 43 Pregnant and lactating women.
COMINSUD is doing a great job thanks to the promotion interventions facilitated by WFP in diverse forms.
