After a two-day Training Workshop which on the 25th and 26th
April 2024, at the Northwest Regional Assembly, Youth Leaders and Community
Peace Builders from 13 Sub-Division have been carrying out community
sensitization on Peace through Open Space Talks.
The target group include young people within youth clusters
in religious, socio-cultural and sports groups and decision makers in their
respective council areas.

From Communities across Batibo, Mezam, Ngoketunjia, Menchum
and Boyo, Peace talks held with women and Youths, in the Santa and Mbengwi
Council areas, Belo and Widikum. While sensitizing on the values of peace
(Positivity, Inclusion, Tolerance and non-violence), to build a just and
peaceful society, emphasis is on the importance of registering on the electoral
list. Besides peace talks, Santa equally dished out information on Gender-Based
Violence among women and youths.
Thus far, they are implementing transformative actions to
address specific conflicts within their various communities. Open space
discussions are ongoing with a minimum of 20 youth leaders with the aim of stimulating
engagements for non-violent actions, grow youths in self-development, economic
empowerment and local development.

The current socio-political crisis in the English-speaking
Regions of Cameroon keeps pushing COMINSUD with the collaboration of Civil
Peace Service (CPS) to work within these communities and empower community
members through multi-sectorial interventions. The activities involve different
partners and individuals, empowering women and youth to actively participate in
decision-making processes and contribute to peace-building efforts within their
communities.
