Community Initiative for Sustainable Development (COMINSUD) reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality, rights-based humanitarian assistance by participating in a three-day Capacity Building Training on Protection Monitoring, held from 1–3 July 2026 at the Pastoral Centre in Bamenda. Organized by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), UNHCR, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and INTERSOS, the training reflects COMINSUD’s continued investment in strengthening its institutional capacity to deliver impactful and sustainable protection interventions.

The training brought together Protection and MEAL professionals from humanitarian organizations across the North-West Region. It aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of protection monitoring principles, human rights frameworks, ethical standards, and practical methodologies essential for protecting vulnerable populations affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Key topics covered included protection monitoring, incident documentation and reporting, Flash Alert preparation, Focus Group Discussions, protection data analysis, trend identification, evidence-based advocacy, information verification and triangulation, survivor-centred approaches, confidentiality, referral mechanisms, and the application of the 15 Global Protection Risks Framework.
The competencies acquired will further strengthen COMINSUD’s capacity to generate high-quality protection evidence that informs timely humanitarian responses, enhances accountability to affected populations, and supports coordinated action among humanitarian actors. The knowledge gained will be integrated into COMINSUD’s ongoing humanitarian programmes to strengthen protection monitoring in conflict-affected communities. The organization will improve incident documentation and reporting systems, enhance coordination with the Protection Cluster and other humanitarian partners, strengthen referral pathways for vulnerable individuals, and conduct step-down training sessions for staff, volunteers, and community focal points. By embedding these internationally recognized protection standards into its field operations, COMINSUD is better positioned to identify emerging protection risks, respond effectively to community needs, and design programmes informed by reliable evidence.

As a trusted local humanitarian organization with years of experience serving conflict-affected communities in Cameroon, COMINSUD remains committed to promoting the safety, dignity, and rights of internally displaced persons, returnees, host communities, women, children, and other vulnerable groups through coordinated, evidence-based humanitarian action. By continuously investing in staff capacity and institutional strengthening, COMINSUD is enhancing its ability to deliver sustainable protection interventions that contribute to safer, more resilient communities across the North-West Region.
